Account Override

Account override provides the ability to associate a user with a company based on the value in a specific AD field. Normally, a user is associated to the default company specified by the Autotask configuration on the “Connection Settings” subtab. (see https://idsync.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/AC/pages/7012405 )

Setup Override

  • Stop the IDSync service on the “Service” tab

  • Go to the “Autotask” tab and then the “Account Override” subtab

  • Click “Add” button to add a new line

    • Type in the name of the AD field that will be the field to monitor

    • Type in the AD field value that will trigger the action and link to a specific Autotask Account

    • Type in the Autotask Account ID that will be the object of the override

  • Click the “Apply” button

  • Go to the “Service” tab and restart the IDSync service

Override Processing and Result

  • Open the Windows ADUC tool and view the properties for a user

  • Go to the tab containing the AD field defined for the override

  • Change the value of the field to a value defined as an override

  • If this is a user being enabled the first time for Autotask

    • A new Autotask contact record is created and associated with the Autotask Account defined by the override

  • If this is an AD user with an existing Autotask contact record

    • The existing portal login name will be changed by appending random numeric value to the name

      • And it will be disabled

    • A new Autotask contact record will be created and associated with the Autotask Account defined by the override

Remove Override

  • Stop the IDSync service on the “Service” tab

  • Select a line that defines an override and click “Remove” button

  • Click the “Apply” button

  • Go to the “Service” tab and restart the IDSync service
